It is with a heavy heart that I send this update. Everything is taking so so much longer than I anticipated. Ugh! Cards, stickers, and photos will go out this week, if you responded to the backer report. I will send address requests directly to those that have not. As I updated last time, my designer and the two designers after, backed out of this project, leaving me to do it myself, which was okay, but it saddened me to extended my timeline. I hoped that the design would be done by the time the kickstarter ended and the book would be sent to print shortly thereafter. I thought because I had a clear idea of how I wanted it all to look, that doing the layout would be relatively quick and easy. Ha ha! One of life’s cruel jokes! Determined, and viewing time as my arch nemesis, I learned an entire new software program, and I did the layout. Those of you that have been around me know that I have done nothing but go to work and work on this project for months, and here we are, the layout is done. The last two weeks have been a back and forth battle with the printers, tweaking the final files, nailing down contracts and wiring money. As of yesterday, all the files have been approved to go to the proofing stage. Here, I tell you the part that breaks my heart, the part that I feel like i unknowingly misrepresented myself: it will take 10 business days to get the proofs, and 60 days thereafter before I have the books in hand. Someone recently told me that they never knew someone to deliver their kickstarter rewards on time. I wanted to be better than that. I have let myself down, and feel I have let you all down. The bright side, is that the book will be beautiful. The cover will be soft to the touch, almost suede like. The words on the front and on the spine will be shiny black. It will be hard back, 10 inches by 10 inches, and a total of 148 pages. The final title: Don’t Forget Me. Ghost Bikes. A Photographic Memorial by Genea Barnes. I thank you all for your continued patience and support. I humbly offer my sincerest apologies for the delay.
